STAND. COM. REP. NO.745

Honolulu, Hawaii

, 2001

RE: S.B. No. 107

Honorable Robert Bunda

President of the Senate

Twenty-First State Legislature

Regular Session of 2001

State of Hawaii

Sir:

Your Committee on Ways and Means, to which was referred S.B. No. 107 entitled:

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO THE PUBLIC LAND TRUST,"

begs leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this measure is to appropriate additional funds to complete the comprehensive inventory of the public land trust.

The Legislature passed Act 125, Session Laws of Hawaii 2000, to facilitate the establishment of a comprehensive information system for inventorying and maintaining information about the lands of the public land trust. The Auditor was requested to report on the system's progress, and so far has determined that a greater amount of funding than was previously calculated is necessary. This bill appropriates a blank amount of funds for that purpose, provided that the funds are matched by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Ways and Means that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of S.B. No. 107 and recommends that it pass Third Reading.

Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Ways and Means,
