STAND. COM. REP. NO. 1720

Honolulu, Hawaii

, 2001

RE: H.C.R. No. 129

H.D. 1

S.D. 1

Honorable Robert Bunda

President of the Senate

Twenty-First State Legislature

Regular Session of 2001

State of Hawaii

Sir:

Your Committee on Health and Human Services, to which was referred H.C.R. No. 129, H.D. 1, entitled:

"HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE LEGISLATIVE REFERENCE BUREAU TO CONDUCT A STUDY ON THE FEASIBILITY OF A STATE PHARMACEUTICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM,"

begs leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this measure, as received, is to request the Legislative Reference Bureau to conduct a study on the feasibility of implementing a state pharmaceutical assistance program.

Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure from the Policy Advisory Board for Elder Affairs.

Your Committee finds that S.C.R. No. 150 addresses the same concerns as this measure. Thus, your Committee has amended this measure to establish a joint legislative advisory panel to review mandated health insurance benefits, expansion of health care providers, and health care regulation.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Health and Human Services that is attached to this report, your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose of H.C.R. No. 129, H.D. 1, as amended herein, and recommends its adoption in the form attached hereto as H.C.R. No. 129, H.D. 1, S.D. 1.

Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Health and Human Services,
