STAND. COM. REP. NO.1198
Honolulu, Hawaii
, 2001
RE: H.B. No. 740
H.D. 2
Honorable Robert Bunda
President of the Senate
Twenty-First State Legislature
Regular Session of 2001
State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Water, Land, Energy and Environment, to which was referred H.B. No. 740, H.D. 2, entitled:
"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO PUBLIC UTILITIES,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to require retail suppliers of electricity to disclose fuel mix information on the electricity services that they provide.
Your Committee received testimony in favor of this measure from the Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism, Public Utilities Commission, Consumer Advocacy Division of the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Hawaiian Electric Company, Inc., and four individuals.
Your Committee finds that consumers today have become more concerned with the impact energy use has on the economy and the environment. By this measure, consumers will be readily able to correlate their electricity use with the type of energy source being utilized.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Water, Land, Energy and Environment that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 740, H.D. 2, and recommends that it pass Second Reading and be referred to the Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection and Housing.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Water, Land, Energy and Environment,
