STAND. COM. REP. NO.1741

Honolulu, Hawaii

, 2001

RE: H.B. No. 693

Honorable Robert Bunda

President of the Senate

Twenty-First State Legislature

Regular Session of 2001

State of Hawaii

Sir:

Your Committee on Ways and Means, to which was referred H.B. No. 693 entitled:

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO THE BUREAU OF CONVEYANCES,"

begs leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this measure is to make housekeeping amendments to the Bureau of Conveyances law.

Sections 501-23.5 and 502-25, Hawaii Revised Statutes, already provide for some of the fees from recordation in the Bureau of Conveyances to go to the general fund, while the rest of the fees are to go to the Bureau of Conveyances special fund. This bill makes a conforming amendment to section 502-17 to reflect that existing state of the law. The bill also corrects a reference to the Assistant Registrar of the Land Court, designates where indorsements are to go, and specifies the form of the instruments to be recorded. Your Committee finds that these housekeeping amendments are appropriate and will assist the Bureau in carrying out its functions.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Ways and Means that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 693 and recommends that it pass Third Reading.

Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Ways and Means,
