STAND. COM. REP. NO.1092
Honolulu, Hawaii
, 2001
RE: H.B. No. 614
H.D. 2
Honorable Robert Bunda
President of the Senate
Twenty-First State Legislature
Regular Session of 2001
State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Education, to which was referred H.B. No. 614, H.D. 2, entitled:
"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO THE HAWAII STATE PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to repeal the public-private partners for literacy trust fund and advisory alliance for literacy and lifelong learning. In addition, this measure simplifies the literacy and lifelong learning program.
Your Committee received testimony opposing this measure from one individual.
Your Committee finds that this measure streamlines the implementation of the literacy and lifelong learning program while ensuring that the program continues to be integral part of the state librarian's duties.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Education that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 614, H.D. 2, and recommends that it pass Second Reading and be referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Education,
