STAND. COM. REP. NO.1545
Honolulu, Hawaii
, 2001
RE: H.B. No. 513
H.D. 1
S.D. 2
Honorable Robert Bunda
President of the Senate
Twenty-First State Legislature
Regular Session of 2001
State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Ways and Means, to which was referred H.B. No. 513, H.D. 1, S.D. 1, entitled:
"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO THE RELIEF OF CERTAIN PERSONS' CLAIMS AGAINST THE STATE AND PROVIDING APPROPRIATIONS THEREFOR,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to appropriate funds to satisfy claims against the State for judgments, settlements, and miscellaneous claims.
Your Committee finds that meeting these claims is in the best interests of justice. Your Committee has received materials from the Attorney General indicating that thirty-eight claims should be added. Your Committee finds that these claims are legitimate claims against the State and should be paid. This brings the total number of claims in this bill to sixty-three, for a subtotal of $5,959,213.64 from the general fund, $486,481.48 from the Department of Transportation harbors fund, and $4,860,931.98 from the Department of Transportation highways fund, for a total of $11,306,627.10.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Ways and Means that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 513, H.D. 1, S.D. 1, as amended herein, and recommends that it pass Third Reading in the form attached hereto as H.B. No. 513, H.D. 1, S.D. 2.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Ways and Means,
