Your Committee on Judiciary, to which was referred H.B. No. 513, H.D. 1, entitled:

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO THE RELIEF OF CERTAIN PERSONS' CLAIMS AGAINST THE STATE AND PROVIDING APPROPRIATIONS THEREFOR,"

begs leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this measure is to make appropriations for the relief of claims against the State.

Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure from the Attorney General.

This measure represents settlements and judgments against the State involving various executive departments. Most of the cases involve lawsuits against the State as a named defendant or as a third-party defendant.

Your Committee has amended this measure to change certain figures, based on the suggestion of the Attorney General.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Judiciary that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 513, H.D. 1, as amended herein, and recommends that it pass Second Reading in the form attached hereto as H.B. No. 513, H.D. 1, S.D. 1, and be referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.
