STAND. COM. REP. NO.1358
Honolulu, Hawaii
, 2001
RE: H.B. No. 186
S.D. 1
Honorable Robert Bunda
President of the Senate
Twenty-First State Legislature
Regular Session of 2001
State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Ways and Means, to which was referred H.B. No. 186, S.D. 1, entitled:
"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO THE PUBLIC LAND TRUST,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to appropriate funds for the ongoing inventory of the public land trust.
Although the State is the trustee of the lands in the public land trust, the exact dimensions and location of those lands are not known. The Legislature authorized an inventory of the lands by the Auditor last session. The Auditor was requested to give the Legislature a progress report, which was done, and in which the Auditor stated that additional funding is necessary to complete this task.
Your Committee finds that it is necessary for the State to have a complete inventory of the public land trust, and that, given the scope of the task and the depth of research needed, that the Auditor's request is justified.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Ways and Means that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 186, S.D. 1, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Ways and Means,
