Honorable Robert Bunda

State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Judiciary, to which was referred H.B. No. 1405, H.D. 1, S.D. 1, entitled:
"A BILL FOR AN ACT A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO USE OF INTOXICANTS,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to conform amendments relating to revocation of motor vehicle registrations under administrative revocation proceedings with the comprehensive law regarding driving under the influence scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2002.
Your Committee received written testimony in support of this measure from the Judiciary, Department of Transportation, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
This measure was prepared on the recommendation of the Legislative Reference Bureau, pursuant to Act 189, Session Laws of Hawaii (SLH) 2000, which enacted a new chapter on use of intoxicants while operating a motor vehicle. As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Judiciary that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 1405, H.D. 1, S.D. 1, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Judiciary,
