Your Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection and Housing, to which was referred Governor's Message No. 294, submitting for study and consideration the nominations of:
BOARD OF SPEECH PATHOLOGY AND AUDIOLOGY
FAITH Y. LEBB and NORA A. NOMURA, for terms to expire June 30, 2005,
begs leave to report as follows:
The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs testified in support of the nomination of Faith Y. Lebb. The nomination of Nora A. Nomura was supported by the Hawaii Government Employees Association and the Hawaii Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Faith Y. Lebb is a licensed social worker and vocational rehabilitation counselor. Ms. Lebb has served as a public member of the Board of Speech Pathology and Audiology (Board) since July, 1999.
Nora A. Nomura is a manager with the Hawaii Government Employees Association who has worked with speech pathologists and audiologists employed in the Department of Education and Department of Health. Nominated as a public member to the Board, Ms. Nomura has a history of public and community service, having served with Aloha United Way and the Real Estate Commission.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection and Housing that are attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, character, experience, and qualifications of the nominees, has found the nominees to be qualified for the positions to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nominations.
