Your Committees on Health and Human Services, to which was referred Governor's Message No. 289, submitting for study and consideration the nominations of:
MAUI COUNTY SUBAREA HEALTH PLANNING COUNCIL
WILLIAM F. STATON, for a term to expire June 30, 2002, and
THOMAS R. FITZGERALD, JR. and PATRICIA MARY RAFFETTO, for terms to expire June 30, 2005,
begs leave to report as follows:
Upon review of the testimony and statements submitted by the nominees, your Committee finds that each of the nominees has the necessary character, experience, and qualifications to serve on the Maui County Subarea Health Planning Council.
Your Committee received testimony in support of each nominee from the State Health Planning and Development Agency.
William F. Staton currently works for the State Office of Veterans' Services. His community service includes activities and leadership roles with the Kahului Baptist Church, Keiki's Dream/Funday Foundation, Family Peace Center, Mediation Services of Maui, and Community Clinic of Maui Board.
Thomas R. Fitzgerald, Jr. is an insurance agent with the Insurance Agents Group. He is affiliated with professional organizations such as the General Insurance Association of Maui, Hawaii Independent Insurance Agents Association, and Independent Insurance Agents of America.
Patricia Mary Raffetto is a quality management coordinator at Kaiser Hospital. Her community service includes the Kula Elementary School Parent Teacher Association, the Keiki O'Kula Preschool Board, the Maui AIDS Foundation, and the Maui Special Learning Center.
Your Committee finds that all nominees have been appointed based upon their credentials, integrity, and a desire to improve Maui's health planning through their service on the Maui County Subarea Health Planning Council.
As affirmed by the records of votes of the members of your Committees on Health and Human Services that are attached to this report, your Committees, after full consideration of the background, character, experience, and qualifications of the nominees, has found the nominees to be qualified for the positions to which nominated and recommend that the Senate advise and consent to the nominations.
