STAND. COM. REP. NO.1744
Honolulu, Hawaii
, 2001
Honorable Robert Bunda
President of the Senate
Twenty-First State Legislature
Regular Session of 2001
State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Labor, to which was referred Governor's Message No. 276, submitting for study and consideration the nomination of:
CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
CHAMP S. ONO, for a term to expire June 30, 2002;
begs leave to report as follows:
Testimony in support of Champ S. Ono was received from the Department of Human Resources Development and two private citizens.
Upon review of the testimony and statement submitted by the nominee, your Committee finds that Champ S. Ono has the necessary character, experience, and qualifications to serve on the Civil Service Commission.
Your Committee finds that Champ S. Ono possesses over thirty years of employment service with state government as an educator and administrator. This experience will enable him to make prudent decisions from a broad employee and management perspective. Your Committee also believes that Mr. Ono's experience and participation in numerous community and professional organizations such as the East Kauai YMCA and the HGEA Retired Unit make him an ideal nominee to the Civil Service Commission.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Labor that is attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, character, experience, and qualifications of the nominee, has found the nominee to be qualified for the position to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nomination.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Labor,
BOB NAKATA, Chair |
