Your Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection and Housing, to which was referred Governor's Message No. 266, submitting for study and consideration the nomination of:

BOARD OF EXAMINERS IN OPTOMETRY

LAURA Y. CHOCK, for a term to expire June 30, 2005,

begs leave to report as follows:

The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs testified in support of the nomination.

Laura Y. Chock is a retired educator with an extensive history of service to the community. Ms. Chock currently serves on the Mass Transit Board and has served on the Vocational Rehabilitation Board, Honolulu Downtown Improvement Association, Honolulu Revitalization Committee, and Hawaii County Water Department Commission. Ms. Chock has been a public member of the Board since August, 1997.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection and Housing that is attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, character, experience, and qualifications of the nominee, has found the nominee to be qualified for the position to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nomination.
