Your Committee on Transportation, Military Affairs and Government Operations, to which was referred Governor's Message No. 258, submitting for study and consideration the nomination of:
Vit U. Patel, M.D., Medical Advisory Board, for a term to expire June 30, 2005,
begs leave to report as follows:
Upon review of the personal history statement and related materials submitted by the nominee, your Committee finds that the nominee will work with compassion and commitment while serving on the medical advisory board.
Testimony in support of the nominee was submitted by the Department of Transportation.
Dr. Patel, who obtained his medical education at the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed his residency in psychiatry at the John A. Burns School of Medicine, is currently a staff psychiatrist at the Hawaii State Hospital.
Your Committee finds that the nominee has been appointed based on his credentials, integrity, and a desire to improve the provision of medical services in Hawaii.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Transportation, Military Affairs and Government Operations that is attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, character, experience, and qualifications of the nominee, has found the nominee to be qualified for the position to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nomination.
