Your Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection and Housing, to which was referred Governor's Message No. 227, submitting for study and consideration the nominations of:
BOARD OF DENTAL EXAMINERS
GERALD ADACHI, D.M.D., DEBORAH E. LICHOTA, R.D.H., ANN C. TERANISHI, and RONALD L. YOUNG, D.M.D., for terms to expire June 30, 2005,
begs leave to report as follows:
Upon review of the testimony and statements submitted by the nominees, your Committee finds that each of the nominees has the necessary character, experience, and qualifications to serve on the Board of Dental Examiners (Board).
Your Committee received testimony in support of nominees Gerald Adachi, Deborah E. Lichota, and Ronald L. Young from the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs. An individual submitted testimony in support of nominee Ann C. Teranishi.
Gerald Adachi, D.M.D., received his degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Adachi is licensed to practice in Hawaii and has operated his own dental practice for almost fifteen years. He has been a member of the Board since July, 2000.
Deborah E. Lichota, R.D.H., holds a certificate in dental hygiene from the University of Hawaii. Ms. Lichota is a registered dental hygienist and a member of the Hawaii Dental Hygienists Association. Ms. Lichota has served as the Board's dental hygienist member since July, 2000.
Ann C. Teranishi, nominated as the Board's public member, is an attorney at law. Ms. Teranishi is active with the Hawaii Business Jaycees and has been involved in numerous charity fundraising events.
Ronald L. Young, D.M.D., received his dentistry degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Dr. Young is a licensed dentist who has operated his own dental practice for over eighteen years and has served on the Board since July, 2000.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection and Housing that are attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, character, experience, and qualifications of the nominees, has found the nominees to be qualified for the positions to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nominations.
