Your Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection and Housing, to which was referred Governor's Message No. 226, submitting for study and consideration the nomination of:

CREDIT UNION ADVISORY BOARD

GARY S. FUKUROKU, for a term to expire June 30, 2005,

begs leave to report as follows:

Upon review of the statement submitted by the nominee, your Committee finds that the nominee has the necessary character, experience, and qualifications to serve on the Credit Union Advisory Board.

Testimony in support of the nominee was received from the Hawaii Credit Union League.

Gary S. Fukuroku is a graduate of the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a degree in Business Management. For the last ten years, he has served as the manager and chief executive officer of the Maui County Employees Federal Credit Union. Among his professional affiliations, Mr. Fukuroku has also served as vice-president of the Valley Isle Chapter of the Hawaii Credit Union League, chairman of the Job Service Employers Committee, and a member of the Maui Workforce Investment Board.

Your Committee finds that Mr. Fukuroku has been appointed based upon his credentials, professionalism, and desire to maintain high standards for Hawaii's credit unions.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection and Housing that is attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, character, experience, and qualifications of the nominee, has found the nominee to be qualified for the position to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nomination.
