STAND. COM. REP. NO. 1774
Honolulu, Hawaii
, 2001
Honorable Robert Bunda
President of the Senate
Twenty-First State Legislature
Regular Session of 2001
State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Economic Development and Technology, to which was referred Governor's Message No. 155, submitting for study and consideration the nomination of:
COMMUNITY-BASED ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY COUNCIL
LINDA CHRISTINE LEWIS, for terms to expire June 30, 2001, and June 30, 2005,
begs leave to report as follows:
Upon review of the testimony and statements submitted by the nominee, your Committee finds that the nominee has the necessary character, experience, and qualifications to serve on the Community-Based Economic Development Advisory Council (Council).
Your Committee received testimony in support of the nominee from the Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism and Bank of Hawaii.
Linda Christine Lewis brings a decisive voice and tireless dedication to the Council. At Bank of Hawaii, she has always placed the needs of the community ahead of other criteria, whether in her capacity as a community relations specialist, the bank's Community Reinvestment Act officer, or lately as a community development lender. As vice president and community development lender, Linda focuses her efforts on financing the housing and economic development needs of low- and moderate-income individuals and communities. She also coordinates the governmental guarantee and agriculture lending programs for Bank of Hawaii.
Your Committee finds that the nominee has been appointed based upon her credentials, integrity, and a desire to improve Hawaii's community-based economic development practices through her service on the Community-Based Economic Development Advisory Council.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Economic Development and Technology that is attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, character, experience, and qualifications of the nominee, has found the nominee to be qualified for the position to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nomination.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committees on Economic Development and Technology,
ROD TAM, Chair |
