Report Title:

Requests upgrade and modernization of WikiWiki Shuttle.

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the layout of the facilities at Honolulu International Airport requires that shuttle buses be used to transport passengers between terminals; and

WHEREAS, the WikiWiki shuttle service has served the needs of passengers at the airport for many years; and

WHEREAS, the buses of the WikiWiki shuttle service have not been upgraded or modernized in many years; and

WHEREAS, some passengers using the WikiWiki shuttle recently have noticed physical deterioration and foul odors in the interior of the buses; and

WHEREAS, as tourism is Hawaii's primary industry, it is important that visitors entering and leaving the State receive a positive impression so that they can recommend Hawaii as a tourist destination; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Twenty-First Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2001, the House of Representatives concurring, that the Department of Transportation is requested to upgrade and modernize the WikiWiki shuttle buses at Honolulu International Airport so that they are cleaner and better smelling; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Director of Transportation.
