A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

RELATING TO BICYCLES.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Section 291C-86, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended to read as follows:

"[[]§291C-86[]] Method of giving hand-and-arm signals. All signals herein required given by hand and arm shall be given from the left side of the vehicle in the following manner and such signals shall indicate as follows:

(1) Left turn--hand and arm extended horizontally.

(2) Right turn--hand and arm extended upward[.]; provided that a person operating a bicycle may indicate a right turn by a hand and arm extended horizontally from the right side of the bicycle.

(3) Stop or decrease speed--hand and arm extended downward."

SECTION 2. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
