A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO EDUCATION.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Act 295, Session Laws of Hawaii 1992, restructured the public schools system by allowing the schools more fiscal autonomy and thus accountability for financial administration, and provided for other financial reforms. The legislature finds that business manager positions are critical to the continued success of the restructuring efforts. The business manager will be based at the high school of each school complex and will serve at least six but not more than ten schools. Business managers assigned to school complexes with fewer than six schools will be assigned to assist school complexes with more than ten schools.
The purpose of this Act is to ensure that one full-time business manager position is assigned to each of the school complexes established by the department of education.
SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2002-2003, for one full-time permanent school business manager position for each school complex.
SECTION 3. The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2001.
