A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR THE fourth SENATORIAL DISTRICT.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $8,895,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002, and the sum of $3,600,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2002-2003, and the same sums, or so much thereof as may be necessary are appropriated for the respective fiscal years for the following capital improvements in the fourth senatorial district:

1. Maui School District – Two School Vans

Replace two previously burned school vans at $45,000 each. $90,000

2. Honoapiilani Highway

Plans, design, and construction of a highway between Dickenson and Puamana. $3,200,000

3. Princess Nahienaena School

Plans, design, and construction of fencing. $26,000

4. Lahainaluna High School Library

Construction $1,300,000

5. Baldwin High School Library

Fiscal Year 2001-2002

Plans and design $225,000

Fiscal Year 2002-2003

Construction $3,600,000

6. Baldwin High School
Eight Science Classrooms

Plans and design $324,000

Construction $3,700,000

7. Mobile Traffic Message Boards

Two electronic mobile traffic message boards to notify the public of highway road closures. $30,000

SECTION 2. The appropriations made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal year for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2004 shall lapse as of that date.

SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended for the purposes of this Act, provided that:

(1) The sum appropriated in item 2 of section 1 of this Act shall be expended by the department of transportation;

(2) The sums appropriated in items 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6 of section 1 of this Act shall be expended by the department of accounting and general services; and

(3) The sum appropriated in item 7 of section 1 of this Act shall be expended by the Maui county police department.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2001.
