A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE fifth SENATORIAL DISTRICT.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $23,025,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, for fiscal year 2001-2002, for the following capital improvements in the fifth senatorial district:

1. Iao Intermediate, Maui

A. Demolition of old cafeteria construction. $250,000

B. Classroom building.

Plans $250,000

Construction $2,600,000

Total funding $2,850,000

Total funding $3,100,000

2. Kalama Intermediate, Maui

Administrative building and classroom renovation.

Plans $230,000

Construction $2,350,000

Total funding $2,580,000

3. King Kekaulike High School, Maui

Six-classroom building.

Plans $220,000

Construction $2,300,000

Total funding $2,520,000

4. Maui Waena Intermediate, Maui

Six-classroom building. $2,730,000

5. Paia Elementary, Maui

Cafeteria construction and demolition of old cafeteria. $2,400,000

6. Pukalani Elementary, Maui

Administrative building, library, and renovation of classrooms.

Plans $370,000

Construction $3,625,000

Total funding $3,995,000

7. Makawao Public Library, Maui

Library expansion.

Land $100,000

Design $400,000

Construction $3,000,000

Total funding $3,500,000

8. Hale Makua Services, Maui

Expand 238 bed facility to add 16 beds quickly to address critical shortage. $1,000,000

9. Paia Bypass, Maui

Design $1,200,000

SECTION 2. The appropriations made for capital improvement projects authorized in this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal biennium for which the appropriation is made; provided that all appropriations which are encumbered as of June 30, 2003, shall lapse as of that date.

SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended for the purposes of this Act; provided that:

(1) The sums appropriated in items 1 to 7 of section 1 of this Act shall be expended by the department of accounting and general services;

(2) The sum appropriated in item 8 of section 1 of this Act shall be expended by Maui county; and

(3) The sum appropriated in item 9 of section 1 of this Act shall be expended by the department of transportation.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2001.
