A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE fourteenth SENATORIAL DISTRICT.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $          , or so much thereof as may be necessary, for fiscal year 2001-2002, for the following capital improvements in the fourteenth senatorial district:

1. Dole Middle School

A. Regrade & level walkways/fix drainage & sinking walkways $500,000

B. Renovate & redesign physical education locker rooms $44,000

C. Design & construct 90'x100' foot parking lot $150,000

2. Farrington High School

A. Re-do plumbing (underground pipes) in buildings A, I, and J $1,500,000

B. Re-roof buildings A and auditorium $900,000

C. Refurbish science classrooms $500,000

3. Fern School

A. Electrical upgrades for building C $30,000

B. Resurface front parking lot $50,000

C. Acoustical fluffs for cafeteria ceiling $75,000

D. Repaint exterior of building C $57,000

E. Repaint exterior of building F $47,000

F. Recoat roof of building C $25,000

G. Repair of roof of building G $30,000

H. Replace classroom furniture $3,000

4. Ka'ewai Elementary School

A. Remediate problem of school buildings sliding down hillside $          

B. Roof repair on building H (cafeteria), exterior and interior $90,000

C. Replace windows with louvers $46,000

5. Kalakaua Middle School

A. Replace cafeteria windows with jalousies $20,000

B. Resurface and strip parking lot $90,000

C. Repair restrooms in building N $95,000

6. Kalihi Elementary School

A. Install playground equipment with padded ground cover for three campus play areas $100,000

B. Resurface upper playcourt $70,000

C. Resurface and stripe staff parking lot $60,000

D. Paint covered court $70,000

E. Paint A building exterior $60,000

F. Paint B building exterior $60,000

7. Kalihi-Kai School

A. Fire alarm upgrade $172,500

B. Building K, replace air conditioning equipment $170,000

C. Replace campus water lines $135,000

D. Building L, replace grease trap $125,000

E. Building F, replace acoustic ceiling $17,000

8. Kalihi-Uka School

A. Upgrade electrical power throughout school $175,000

B. Replace light fixtures in building C $          

C. Replace light fixtures in building B $          

9. Kalihi-Waena School

A. Upgrade electrical power throughout school $175,000

B. Air conditioning for library and workroom $229,000

10. Kapalama School

A. Resurface/restripe/extend parking lot $100,000

B. Repaint exterior of building A $45,000

C. Repaint exterior of building B $45,000

11. Kauluwela Elementary

A. New cafeteria $1,500,000

B. Security screens for S building $10,000

12. Kawananakoa Middle School

A. Renovate/refurbish interior of 35-year old music building housing band and orchestra programs $225,000

B. Redesign and resurface parking lot to include speed bumps and painting strips for the bottom half $111,000

C. Build covered student lanai, place tables and chairs, and security fence to enclose entire lanai, to increase eating area for students and to enable students to be sheltered from rain and do homework while waiting before or after school $300,000

D. Replace and upgrade electrical lighting and plumbing system for auditorium $350,000

E. Develop landscape master plan $50,000

13. Lanakila Elementary

Retaining wall construction for building A $17,000

14. Likelike Elementary

A. Design and construct playground equipment for grades pre-K to 5 $120,000

B. Design and construct covered walkway around cafeteria $35,000

C. Electrical upgrade $250,000

D. Redesign parking lot to create a drop-off zone and add more stalls $250,000

15. Linapuni School

A. Upgrade electrical power $145,000

B. Replace campus water lines $58,000

C. Replace carpet in rooms B5 and B6 $          

D. Install portable walls to create storage area in cafeteria $2,000

16. Maemae Elementary

A. Drainage improvements on campus $600,000

B. Library to be built on the second floor of the cafeteria $1,800,000

C. Rock wall $10,000

17. McKinley High School

A. New irrigation and plumbing system to replace antiquated system $          

B. New electrical system to retrofit to meet increased power needs $          

C. New girls' sports and physical education facility; plans and construction to upgrade facility to meet gender equity requirements $          

D. Renovate building Q – boys' physical education $          

E. Repair building K – industrial arts $          

F. Repair gymnasium by increasing lighting, painting interior and exterior, and relocating public announcement system wiring $          

G. Paint exterior and interior of cafetorium $          

18. Nuuanu Elementary School

A. Landscape hilly and sloping areas surrounding backtop and include adequate drainage; repave blacktop; design and construct turn around adjacent to covered gym to provide a safe and level play and walk area for students and designated turn around adjacent to the covered gym

B. Install security screens for buildings G1, I, H, F, and B, to provide security for school equipment and supplies

C. Upgrade electrical system in school to provide adequate electrical power $175,000

19. Pu'uhale School

A. Design and construct covered walkway $330,000

B. Design and install security screens for cafeteria $165,000

C. Resurface Kanakanui St. fronting school $330,000

20. Roosevelt High School

A. Construction of classroom $500,000

B. Renovate auditorium $3,000,000

C. Construct multi-purpose educational/athletic facility $15,000,000

SECTION 2. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of accounting and general services for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2001.
