A BILL FOR AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE sixteenth SENATORIAL DISTRICT.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $21,095,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, for fiscal year 2001-2002, for the following capital improvements in the sixteenth senatorial district:
1. Aiea Public Library
Provide funds for land acquisition for public library $2,900,000
2. Aliamanu Elementary School
Design, construction, and equipment for handicapped-accessible restroom $50,000
3. Aliamanu Intermediate School
Upgrade electrical system to provide more power for technology and related activities $350,000
4. Hickam Elementary School
A. Design, construction, and equipment for the expansion of cafetorium, including ground and site improvements and appurtenances $2,750,000
B. Design, construction, and equipment for the expansion of school library, including ground and site improvements $1,100,000
C. Upgrade electrical system to provide more power for technology $500,000
5. Makalapa Elementary School
A. Renovate and expand cafeteria to minimize staggered lunch hour and to alleviate crowded conditions $915,000
B. Replace deteriorated and hazardous exterior concrete overhangs located in exterior of classrooms and other school buildings $300,000
6. Moanalua Elementary School
A. Construct retaining wall along Moanalua Stream for kindergarten playground and emergency repairs to correct hazardous and safety conditions $450,000
B. Construct concrete walkways between portable classrooms and buildings $13,000
C. Construct roofing over existing open walkways $13,000
D. Plans, design, and construction to expand library building to accommodate technology center for students $150,000
E. Plans, design, and construction to expand parking lot $25,000
F. Plans, design, and construction for eight classrooms to replace existing portable classrooms $800,000
7. Moanalua High School
A. Plans, design, and construction to renovate classrooms for science lab $200,000
B. Plans, design, and construction to renovate classrooms for multi-media and world language learning center $195,000
C. Renovate ESLL classroom to provide air circulation and ventilation $25,000
D. Renovate eight portable classrooms to provide electrical upgrades
for computer technology $50,000
8. Moanalua Middle School
Plans, design, and construction of a second floor technology classroom and administrative offices $2,000,000
9. Pearl Harbor Elementary School
Repair by replacing deteriorated fencing to correct hazardous condition $70,000
10. Pearl Harbor Kai Elementary School
Plans, design, and construction to renovate existing restrooms to comply with handicapped accessible law $250,000
11. Pu'uhale Elementary School
Improvements to school facilities, including covered walkway, installation of security window screens, and resurfacing roadway $330,000
12. Radford High School
A. Plans, design, and construction to upgrade electrical system for technology related activities $750,000
B. Improvement of lighting and louvers for all classrooms and gymnasium to improve inadequate lighting for students and faculty $450,000
C. Plans, design, and construction to maximize use of school cafeteria to accommodate school population $150,000
13. Red Hill Elementary School
A. Install local area network electrical system for ten classrooms $25,000
B. Plans, design, and construction of covered walkways $131,000
C. Design and construction of water sprinkler system to mitigate erosion problem $23,000
14. Shafter Elementary School
A. Design and construction of roof over existing concrete lanai $50,000
B. Design and construction to upgrade electrical systems for technology related activities $250,000
15. Salt Lake Elementary School
A. Plans, design, and construction to upgrade electrical system, install air conditioning and renovate classrooms $520,000
B. Plans, design, and construction to upgrade electrical system, install air conditioning and renovate classrooms in building C $520,000
C. Plans, design, and construction to upgrade electrical system, install air conditioning, and renovate classrooms in building F $1,040,000
16. Mokulele Elementary School
Plans, design, and construction to install automatic sprinkler system on playfield and grounds to mitigate erosion $100,000
17. Aloha Stadium
Design, landscape, and install irrigation system along Kamehameha Highway, and adjacent to Hawaii Housing Authority housing project $150,000
18. Puuhale Street, Oahu
Planning, design, and construction for the Puuhale Street storm drainage system from the vicinity of King Street to Nimitz Highway and into the main drainage connector system $3,500,000
SECTION 2. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of accounting and general services for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2001.
