CONGRATULATING GEORGE CHEW KAI YOUNG

WHEREAS, while the natural beauty of Hawaii is recognized throughout the world, the real beauty of our island state lies in its people, who, through their personal relationships with their families, friends, and neighbors, and through their dedicated efforts to serve the needs of the people of Hawaii, promote the traditions of their ethnic culture in our island state; and

WHEREAS, during his distinguished professional career, GEORGE CHEW KAI YOUNG has epitomized the essence of dedication and leadership in several key positions including City and County Civil Service Commissioner, State Civil Service Commissioner, and as a member of the State Compensation Board; and

WHEREAS, in addition to a fulfilling life of service, GEORGE CHEW KAI YOUNG and his wife, Jeanette, have successfully raised three wonderful sons, Wesley, Clayton, and Curtis, who are all pursuing professional careers; and

WHEREAS, this exemplary individual currently serves as president of the Manoa Chinese Cemetery and throughout his commitment to the people of the State of Hawaii, GEORGE CHEW KAI YOUNG has been recognized by the United Chinese Society as the 1997-1998 Outstanding Chinese Citizen of the Year, and by Chung Wah Chung Kung Hui as the recipient of the Man of the Year Award; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-first Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2001, that this body hereby commends and congratulates

GEORGE CHEW KAI YOUNG for being selected as the 2000 Chinese Model Father of the Year by the United Chinese Society, and extends to him its warmest aloha and best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
