Report Title:

Susan L. Foo; Mother of the Year 2000

WHEREAS, Susan L. Foo is the United Chinese Society’s Model Mother of the Year for the year 2000; and

WHEREAS, Susan L. Foo received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education, graduating magna cum laude from Arizona State University, received her Master’s Degree in Education from Arizona State University, and continued Pre-Doctoral Studies in Education at the University of California, Irvine; and

WHEREAS, Susan L. Foo’s community service record includes serving as President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer, Board of Directors and Chairperson in fundraising with:

Auxiliary to the Honolulu County Medical Society, Hawaii Medical Americans Alliance, Iolani School, Bishop Museum, Junior League of Honolulu, Organization of Chinese Americans, Hospice Hawaii, Aloha Medical Mission, John A. Burns School of Medicine, Honolulu Zoofari Fundraiser, Cancer Camp Kids Annual Christmas Party, Honolulu Symphony, and the Team ALVIN Fundraiser/Bone Marrow Drive. She has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for these and other charitable organizations and has also received many awards for her volunteerism; and

WHEREAS, her dedication and commitment to lifelong learning serves as an inspiration to all, and her devotion to her family was recognized when she was selected as the United Chinese Society's Model Mother of the Year for the year 2000; and

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty—first Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session

of 2001, that this body congratulates and extends its best wishes to Susan L. Foo for her exceptional service, and upon

being selected as the Model Chinese Mother of the Year for the Year 2000.
