congratulating and recognizing the film offices of th
WHEREAS, the varied spectrum of fine arts, especially in the film industry, is enriching to all people and kept alive and well in Hawaii by the hard work and vision of concerned individuals who cultivate support for artistic pursuits; and
WHEREAS, 2000 was a record-breaking year for Hawaii's film and television industry, boasting production revenues totaling more than $100 million; and
WHEREAS, in response to the success of the Hawaii film industry, five major professional film offices from throughout the State and Counties have joined together to form the FILM OFFICES OF THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS; and
WHEREAS, the FILM OFFICES OF THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS work together to promote Hawaii as the premier tropical film location in the world by offering professional production crews with around-the-clock assistance, having references from other film offices, and providing location photos and island resources in each of their respective areas; and
WHEREAS, the success of film and television productions in Hawaii can be directly attributed to the hard work, expertise, and personal contacts and experience within the film industry of the FILM OFFICES OF THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-first Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2001, that this body hereby recognizes and congratulates the FILM OFFICES OF THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS, consisting of the Hawaii State Film Office, Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism Manager Donne Dawson and former Manager Georgette Deemer; the Oahu Film Office and Honolulu Film Commissioner Walea Constantinau; Big Island Film Office and Big Island Film Commissioner Marilyn Killeri; Kauai Film Office and Kauai Film Commissioner Judy Drosd; and the Maui Film Office and Maui Film Commissioner Amy Kastens for their achievements in establishing Hawaii as a successful and desirable film and television location, and extends to all of them its warmest Aloha and best wishes for success in all future endeavors.
