Report Title:

Congratulating Leilehua H.S. JROTC as the 2000-02 State Champs.

WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Hawaii welcomes the opportunity to acknowledge and encourage the accomplishments of its youth, who, by demonstrating and sharing their extraordinary talent and skills, inspire others to follow; and

WHEREAS, the LEILEHUA HIGH SCHOOL JUNIOR RESERVE OFFICERS TRAINING CORPS (J.R.O.T.C.) consists of some of Hawaii's most promising youth from the Wahiawa and Whitmore communities and instills such ideals as discipline, dedication, teamwork, and patriotism; and

WHEREAS, bringing honor and pride to their school and the community of Wahiawa, the members of the LEILEHUA HIGH SCHOOL J.R.O.T.C. Exhibition Drill Team With Arms, through countless hours of hard work and perseverance, were victorious in their endeavors by winning the 2000-01 State Championship title, and will participate in Sports Network International's most prestigious tournament of its kind, the 2001 National High School Drill Team Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida, on April 27-29; and

WHEREAS, the National High School Drill Team Championship attracts the finest R.O.T.C. programs from throughout the United States, Japan, and Puerto Rico, with consideration reserved for schools that fulfill certain stringent requirements, such as standings in recent regional and local drill competitions, instructor/peer evaluations, and geographic and service diversity; and

WHEREAS, for consistently finishing in the top three over a two-year period in local events such as the King's Guard of Hawaii, Hawaii Multiple School Unit, and West Point Society, the members of the LEILEHUA HIGH SCHOOL J.R.O.T.C. qualified to compete at their highest level of competition, a two-day long Masters Level Competition; now, therefore,
