Makes appropriation of $879,660 for FY 2001-2002 for an emergency vehicle, staffing, equipment, and supplies for the Kaaawa and Kahaluu areas of Oahu.

A BILL FOR AN ACT

SECTION 1. The legislature finds that the area between Kaneohe and Kahuku on Oahu needs additional emergency medical resources to address the high rate of motor vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, and other trauma.

The purpose of this Act is to provide funding for an emergency vehicle, staffing, equipment, and supplies for an emergency ambulance unit for the Kaaawa and Kahaluu service areas.

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $879,660, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002, for an emergency vehicle, staffing, equipment, and supplies for an emergency ambulance unit for the Kaaawa and Kahaluu service areas.

SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of health for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2001.
