A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to schools.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The purpose of this Act is to empower teachers to create mandatory suspensions for students who misbehave.
SECTION 2. Chapter 302A, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§302A- Mandatory suspensions for misbehavior. Teachers and principals may institute a program of mandatory suspensions for students who use or are guilty of:
(1) Profane language in the classroom;
(2) Excessive tardiness;
(3) Excessive absenteeism;
(4) Vandalism of school property; or
(5) General insubordination."
SECTION 3. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
