A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

Making an APPROPRIATION for the molokai general hospital.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The purpose of this Act is to appropriate funds to ensure that the Molokai General Hospital can sustain its current operations and continue to provide medical care to the people of Molokai. Traditionally, Molokai General Hospital, a subsidiary of the Queen's Health System, has received from Queen's sizable contributions to augment its annual operating budget. However, with Queen's experiencing its own financial hardship, funding allocations to its subsidiaries have diminished.

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $          , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002, for Molokai General Hospital to sustain its current operations and continue to provide medical care to the people of Molokai.

SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of health for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2001.
