SB 2764, SD1  RELATING TO TOBACCO PRODUCTS REPORT.                 HLT, JHA, FIN
SSCR 2547     Establishes a reporting requirement  to  enforce  a state law that
              requires tobacco product  manufacturers  who sell tobacco products
              in the State to deposit  certain  amounts into escrow based on the
              number of cigarettes sold.
SB 3179       RELATING TO TOBACCO.                             HLT, CPC/JHA, FIN
SSCR 2621     Prohibits the importation,  distribution,  and  sale of cigarettes
              intended for export or use outside the United States.
SB 2024       MEDICAL RESEARCH ON CANCER STUDIES.                   HLT, CPC/JHA
SSCR 2061     Amends law to require cancer  cases detected and treated outside a
              hospital setting to be registered with the Hawaii Tumor Registry.
SB 2142, SD1  RELATING TO RIGHTS OF VICTIMS AND WITNESSES               HLT, JHA
SSCR 2050     IN CRIMINAL PROCEEDINGS.
              Amends the  bill  of  rights  for  crime  victims  by amending the
              definition of "major developments"  to  include unfitness to stand
              trial,  transfer  to  the  state  hospital  or  other  psychiatric
              facility, or regaining fitness  to  proceed; requires notice to be
              given to state or  county  law  enforcement  agencies on behalf of
              victims of custodial status of defendants committed to psychiatric
              facilities as unfit to proceed  or after acquittal based on mental
              illness.
SB 2254, SD1  RELATING TO PRIVACY OF HEALTH CARE                    HLT, CPC/JHA
SSCR 2623     INFORMATION.
              Clarifies  the  general  rules  regarding  use  and  disclosure of
              protected health care information. 
SB 2655, SD2  RELATING TO HEALTH.                                  HLT, CPC, FIN
SSCR 2689     Establishes an expedited process for  an  appeal of a managed care
              plan's decision.  Extends the  time  period to request an external
              review of managed  care  plan's  final determination.  Establishes
              standards for  determining  whether  a  health  intervention  is a
              medical necessity.
SB 2974       RELATING TO SUBSTANCE ABUSE INSURANCE                HLT, CPC, FIN
SSCR 2691     BENEFITS.
              Requires  parity  in   insurance   coverage  for  substance  abuse
              services.
