S.B. 2433   RELATING TO PRISONS                        JDC/LRE, WAM
SD1
            Authorizes the director of public safety to enter
            into contracts with private entities to manage in-
            state correctional facilities constructed after
            the effective date of this Act; requires that
            certain contractual provisions be included within
            the contract awarded to the private entity. (SD1)

S.B. 2426   RELATING TO CRIME VICTIM COMPENSATION          JDC, WAM
SD1
            Authorizes payment of compensation for mental
            health counseling, in the case of mass casualty,
            for deceased victim's relative, witness, or
            individual engaged in business or educational
            activities at scene. (SD1)

S.B. 2933   RELATING TO CRIME VICTIM COMPENSATION COMMISSION  JDC, WAM
            Allows the Commission to appoint a civil service
            exempt executive director and administrative
            assistant.

S.B. 3002   RELATING TO THE EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM   CPN, WAM

            Allows a surviving spouse or reciprocal
            beneficiary of a member of the Employees'
            Retirement System to remarry or enter into a new
            reciprocal beneficiary relationship and to
            continue to receive pension and other retirement
            benefits arising from their former spouse's
            employment.  (SD1)

S.B. 2742   RELATING TO PORK                               ECD, WAM
            Repeals unenforceable statutory provision which
            requires retailers to label pork produced in the
            State "Island Produced Pork".


MEASURES PREVIOUSLY HEARD BY HHS/GOH, DECISION MAKING ONLY:


S.B. 2856   RELATING TO PUBLIC ASSISTANCE              HHS/GOH, WAM
SD1
            Removes the provisions regarding the annual update
            of the actual amount of an agreement or lien
            recorded in the bureau of conveyances.  Clarifies
            that there are two distinct liens for which bureau
            of conveyances recording requirements apply and
            that the department may initiate probate
            proceedings for both liens.  (SD1)

S.B. 2857   RELATING TO PUBLIC ASSISTANCE                  HHS, WAM
SD1
            Clarifies that when the department in third-party
            liability situations prosecutes its own claims, or
            intervenes or joins in any action, or actively
            participates with a claimant or claimant's
            attorney in the prosecution of claims, it shall be
            allowed to recover its attorney fees and costs.

THE COMMITTEE WILL RECONSIDER ITS DECISION ON THE FOLLOWING MEASURE:


S.B. 2716   RELATING TO TAXATION                                WAM
            Protects the seller for GET purposes from a
            purchaser's tax liability due to the purchaser's
            mistaken claim to a whole sale rate of one-half of
            one per cent instead of the four per cent tax
            rate.
