(SB 2218 SD1 was previously scheduled pending referral from a prior
 committee, but will not meet the legislative deadline as anticipated.
 Measure will be re-referred directly to LAB/FIN.)

SB 2218 SD1   RELATING TO NEW CENTURY CHARTER SCHOOLS.         LAB/FIN
           Provides legal protection for new century
           charter school boards.  Allows groups of 
           teachers at a school to form a charter
           school.  Requires the auditor to consider
           the advice of the superintendent and local
           school boards in setting the allocation for
           new century charter schools.  Appropriates
           funds for the establishment of additional
           new century charter schools, including the
           hiring of additional school personnel.

THE FOLLOWING BILL WAS CORRECTED TO REFLECT HOUSE DRAFT 1
AND ALSO TO CORRECT THE COMMITTEE REFERRAL ASSIGNMENT.

SB 2062 SD1, RELATING TO LONG TERM CARE.                       LMG, FIN
  HD1      Amends Act 93, SLH 1999, to allow the Joint
SCR 889-00   Legislative Committee to continue its vital work
          to ensure that a financing plan for long-term
          care insurance is available for the increasing
          number of Hawaii's elderly and disabled.
