HB 1933    RELATING TO UNLICENSED CONTRACTORS            CPN, JDC
HD1 SD1    Authorizes the forfeiture of tools and other property
(SB 2467   that are the proceeds of or are used in unlicensed
SD2)       contracting activities.  Requires the reimbursement of
        moneys paid to an unlicensed contractor or payment to
        the Contractors Education Fund.  (SD1)

HB 2129    RELATING TO PAWN BROKERS AND SECONDHAND       CPN, JDC
HD1        DEALERS
(SB 3075)  Requires secondhand dealers and pawn brokers
        ("dealers") to legibly record information upon receipt
        of an article.  In addition, amends bill by adding a
        new phrase "government issued identification," proof
        of which must be provided to the dealers in any
        transaction.  (HB2129 HD1)

HB 2474    RELATING TO INSURANCE                         CPN, JDC
HD1        Requires that the consent of Insurance Commissioner
(SB 2815   must be obtained before a person who has been

HB 2148    RELATING TO MOTORCYCLE AND MOTOR SCOOTER      CPN, JDC
        INSURANCE
        Establishes the good faith defense for motorcycle and
        motor scooter insurance violations.

HB 1982    RELATING TO UNIFORM DISCLAIMER PROPERTY       CPN, JDC
(SB 2296)  INTERESTS ACT
        Adopts Uniform Disclaimer of Property Interests Act.

HB 1983    RELATING TO THE LAND COURT                CPN/GOH, JDC

 
HD1 SD1    Streamlines the probate process by establishing
(SB 2174)  consistency between Land Court, Probate Code, and Bure
        au of Conveyances procedures.  (SD1)

HB 2469    RELATING TO SUBPOENAS ISSUED BY THE           CPN, JDC
HD1        DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE AND CONSUMER AFFAIRS
(SB 2810)  Allows the director of the department of commerce and
        consumer affairs to delegate the power to subpoena
        witnesses to a designee. (HB2469 HD1)

their testimony to the committee clerk, Room 227, State Capitol,
24 hours prior to the hearing. Testimony may also be faxed if
less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Judiciary Committee
Office at (808) 586-7125 or (toll free for the neighbor islands)
to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 1-800-586-6659, at least
24 hours prior to the hearing.  When faxing, please indicate to
whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and time of the
hearing, and the required number of copies needed for submittal.

If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services
to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign language
interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for
the disabled), please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior
to the hearing so arrangements can be made.

Public Folder.  A folder labeled "Public Folder" containing the
measures and testimonies for the hearing will be available for
shared use by members of the public.
