HB 2098       RELATING TO CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECKS             EDU, JDC
HD2           Requires private schools, in cooperation with the Hawaii
           criminal justice data center, to conduct criminal
           history verifications of applicants for employment in
           positions necessitating close proximity to children.

HB 2388       RELATING TO EDUCATION                           EDU, JDC
HD2 SD1       Amends zero tolerance policy by allowing suspension of
(SB 3038      a student who attends school or a department- 
SD1)          supervised activities, whether on or off school
           premises, after consuming intoxicating liquor. (SD1)

HB 2087       RELATING TO JUVENILES                           EDU, JDC
HD2 SD1       Allows the department of education to access juvenile
(SB 2996      records as provided under section 571-84.6 (HRS);
SD2)          requires family court to expedite the release of
           information as requested by the department.  (SD1)

HB 2297       RELATING TO FAMILY OR HOUSEHOLD MEMBER ABUSE         JDC
(SB 3024)     Clarifies that the repeat offender provision for the
           offense of abuse of family or household member applies
           to successive convictions, rather than commission of
           successive violations of the law. 

HB 2736       RELATING TO IDENTITY THEFT                      CPN, JDC
HD1           Makes it a criminal offense to use another person's
(SB 3071)     information, without authorization, to obtain credit,
           goods, money, services, or anything of value. (HB2736
           HD1)

HB 2586       RELATING TO CHAPTER 92F, UNIFORM INFORMATION         JDC
(SB 2927      PRACTICES ACT (MODIFIED)
SD1)          Clarifies that agencies have 10 working days from the
           date of receipt by the agency to respond to a request
           for personal records under section 92F-23.


 
HB 1491       RELATING TO SUBPOENAS                                JDC
HD1           Permits use of an administrative subpoena issued by
(SB 934)      the attorney general or trial subpoena to obtain records
           or other information pertaining to a subscriber or
           customer of a provider of electronic communications or
           remote computing services.  Clarifies information to be
           obtained.

HB 2649       RELATING TO NONCONSENSUAL COMMON LAW LIENS           JDC
HD1           Requires the pleading header in a claim or lien
(SB 2689)     against a public officer or employee based on
           performance or non-performance of official duties to
           designate that the claim of lien is directed against a
           public official; authorizes bureau of conveyances to
           reject a claim of lien presented without a state or
           federal court order; imposes criminal penalties for
           knowing submission of an invalid court order.  (HB2649
