SB 3055       RELATING TO ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURE        ECD/CPN, WAM
              Establishes that applications for business or development-
              related permits, licenses, or approvals are not
              automatically granted by tie vote or other inconclusive
              vote. (LEVIN; Nakata)

SB 2166       RELATING TO WIND FARMS                      ECD/CPN, WAM
              Authorizes the sale of wind farm generated electricity sold
              to a public utility to qualify for state enterprise zone
              benefits. (LEVIN; Inouye)

SB 3143       RELATING TO THE NEW ECONOMY             EDU/CPN/ECD, WAM
              Transfers jurisdiction over digital communications to the
              DCCA.  ustrial relations for Allows high tech businesses
              to sell their unused loss carryovers and unused tax
              credits.  Requires employees' retirement system to provide
              venture capital for high tech businesses.  Makes
              appropriations for education and workforce development.

SB 2783       RELATING TO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT        EDU/CPN/ECD, WAM
              FINANCING
              Allows the ERS to support the development of new Hawaii
              businesses and technology companies by investing in venture
              capital partnerships in conjunction with or through the
              Hawaii Strategic Development Corporation (HSDC).

SB 2356       RELATING TO INVESTMENTS OF THE EMPLOYEES'       CPN, WAM
              RETIREMENT SYSTEM
              Authorizes ERS to invest up to 0.5 per cent of assets in
              economically targeted investment venture capital
              enterprises.  Defines "economically targeted investment",
              "venture capital enterprises". (NAKATA)

SB 3002       RELATING TO THE EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM    CPN, WAM
              Allows a surviving spouse or reciprocal beneficiary of a
              police officer, firefighter, deputy sheriff, or public
              safety officer to remarry or enter into a new reciprocal
              beneficiary relationship and to continue to receive pension
              and other retirement benefits arising from their former
              spouse's employment. (KANNO)

SB 2787       RELATING TO THE EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM.   CPN, WAM
              Sets forth revised application procedures for service-
              connected accidental death benefits. (MIZUGUCHI (BR))

SB 2326       RELATING TO PUBLIC EMPLOYEE BENEFITS            CPN, WAM
              Requires the Employees' Retirement System to pay for
              retirant health benefits if fully funded and if the
              reimbursement will not reduce the ERS' earnings below the
              investment yield rate for the fiscal year in which the
              reimbursement is sought. (KANNO)

SB 2799       RELATING TO THE EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM CPN/TIA, WAM
              Extends the payment period pf the acturial present value
              from a total of 5 years to a total of 19 years without
              affecting past payments made.  (MIZUGUCHI (BR))

Persons wishing to testify should submit 45 copies of their testimony to the
committee clerk, Room 202, State Capitol, 24 hours prior to the hearing.
Testimony may also be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate

neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  When faxing,
please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and time
of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for submittal.

participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign language interpreter,
wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for the disabled), please
contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior to the hearing so arrangements
can be made.

Public Folder.  A folder labeled "Public Folder" containing the measures and
testimonies for the hearing will be available for shared use by members of
the public.
