                                   RE: S.B. No. 2873
                                        S.D. 1

Honorable Norman Mizuguchi
President of the Senate
Twentieth State Legislature
Regular Session of 2000
State of Hawaii

Sir:

Your Committee on Ways and Means, to which was referred S.B.
No. 2873, S.D. 1, entitled:

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO HAWAII HEALTH SYSTEMS
     CORPORATION,"

begs leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this bill is to authorize the Hawaii Health
Systems Corporation to issue $38,000,000 in revenue bonds.

Act 116, Session Laws of Hawaii 1998, relating to the state
budget, authorized $38,000,000 in revenue bond funds for capital
improvement projects for the corporation. The corporation is
required by law to obtain approval from the Legislature to issue
revenue bonds. This measure allows the corporation to seek bond
financing for that amount.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your
Committee on Ways and Means that is attached to this report, your
Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of S.B. No.
2873, S.D. 1, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
