                                   RE: S.B. No. 2827

Honorable Norman Mizuguchi
President of the Senate
Twentieth State Legislature
Regular Session of 2000
State of Hawaii

Sir:

Your Committee on Commerce and Consumer Protection, to which
was referred S.B. No. 2827 entitled:

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO CHIROPRACTIC LICENSURE
     REQUIREMENTS,"

begs leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this measure is to require the use of the
National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE) examinations in
place of the current Chiropractic Licensure Examination.

Testimony was received from the Board of Chiropractic
Examiners (Board), Hawaii Chapter American Physical Therapy
Association, and Hawaii State Chiropractic Association.

This measure also requires applications, examination
administration, and candidate qualifications to be in accordance
with the requirements and policies of the NBCE.

Your Committee finds that this measure would streamline,
improve, and update the administration of chiropractic licensure
in Hawaii.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your
Committee on Commerce and Consumer Protection that is attached to
this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and
purpose of S.B. No. 2827 and recommends that it pass Second
Reading and be placed on the calendar for Third Reading.
