Honorable Calvin K.Y. Say
Speaker, House of Representatives
Twentieth State Legislature
Regular Session of 2000
State of Hawaii

Sir:

Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred H.B. No.
2354, H.D. 1, entitled:

"A BILL FOR AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE FIFTIETH
ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATION OF THE KOREAN WAR COMMISSION,"

begs leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this bill is to appropriate funds for the
50th Anniversary Commemoration of the Korean War Commission to
support activities planned for that event.

The Military Affairs Council of the Chamber of Commerce of
Hawaii, Office of Veterans Services, and numerous individuals
testified in support of this measure. The State Department of
Defense supported the bill provided that it does not reduce
deprtmental appropriations identified in the Governor's
supplemental budget.

Your Committee has amended this bill by:

     (1)  Reducing the dollar amount of the appropriation to $1;
          and

     (2) Making a technical, nonsubstantive change for the
          purposes of consistency and style.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your
Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your
Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No.
