                                   RE: H.B. No. 2289

Honorable Norman Mizuguchi
President of the Senate
Twentieth State Legislature
Regular Session of 2000
State of Hawaii

Sir:

Your Committee on Ways and Means, to which was referred H.B.
No. 2289 entitled:

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO WORKERS' COMPENSATION,"

begs leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this Act is to redefine "medical care",
"medical services", or "medical supplies" as used in the workers'
compensation law to include care, services, and supplies rendered
by physical therapist assistants.

Your Committee finds that this measure is necessary to
ensure the compensability of such care, services, and supplies
under the workers' compensation law.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your
Committee on Ways and Means that is attached to this report, your
Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No.
2289 and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
