Sir:

     Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred H.B. No.
1298 entitled: 

     "A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO BURIALS,"

begs leave to report as follows:

     The purpose of this bill is to appropriate funds to provide
financial assistance for the proper burial of Filipino soldiers
who served honorably in active duty:

     (1)  Under the command of the U.S. Army Forces in the Far
          East;

     (2)  Within the Philippine Army;

     (3)  With the Philippine Scouts; or

     (4)  With a recognized Philippine guerilla unit.

     The Office of Veterans' Service and a member of the public
testified in support of this bill.  The Hawaii Chapter of WWII
Fil-Am Veterans testified in support of the intent of this bill.

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your
Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your
Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No.
1298 and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
