     Your Committee on Ways and Means, to which was referred H.B.
No. 1149, H.D. 1, S.D. 1, entitled: 

     "A BILL FOR AN ACT MAKING AN EMERGENCY APPROPRIATION FOR THE
     HAWAII HEALTH SYSTEMS CORPORATION,"

begs leave to report as follows:

     The purpose of this administration measure is to make an
emergency appropriation for the Hawaii Health Systems
Corporation.

     Specifically, this bill appropriates an unspecified amount
for fiscal year 1998-1999 to carry out the purposes set forth in
Act 262, Session Laws of Hawaii 1996, which created the Hawaii
Health Systems Corporation.

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your
Committee on Ways and Means that is attached to this report, your
Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No.
1149, H.D. 1, S.D. 1, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
