                   A  BILL  FOR  AN  ACT

RELATING TO CONTRACTOR'S LICENSES.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 1      SECTION 1.  Section 444-1, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is
 
 2 amended by amending the definition of "contractor" to read as
 
 3 follows:
 
 4      ""Contractor" means any person who by oneself or through
 
 5 others offers to undertake, or holds oneself out as being able to
 
 6 undertake, or does undertake to alter, add to, subtract from,
 
 7 improve, enhance, or beautify any realty or construct, alter,
 
 8 repair, add to, subtract from, improve, move, wreck, or demolish
 
 9 any building, highway, road, railroad, excavation, or other
 
10 structure, project, development, or improvement, or do any part
 
11 thereof, including the erection of scaffolding or other
 
12 structures or works in connection therewith.
 
13      "Contractor" includes a subcontractor, a specialty
 
14 contractor, and any person, general engineering, general
 
15 building, or specialty contractor who performs any of the
 
16 activities listed in the previous paragraph directly or
 
17 indirectly for the federal government[.], to the extent allowed
 
18 under federal law."
 
19      SECTION 2.  Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed.
