                   A  BILL  FOR  AN  ACT

RELATING TO COMMUNITY PARTNER COUNCILS.
 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 1      SECTION 1.  Chapter 302A, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is
 
 2 amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated
 
 3 and to read as follows:
 
 4      "§302A-    Community partners council.  There is established
 
 5 within the office of each district superintendent a community
 
 6 partners council, for the purpose of advising on matters related
 
 7 to district educational issues.  The council shall make
 
 8 recommendations to the department and the board subject to the
 
 9 approval of the superintendent.
 
10      Membership of each council shall consist of:
 
11      (1)  One representative elected from each school in the
 
12           district;
 
13      (2)  One public administrator, appointed by either the
 
14           principal or vice-principal, from each school complex
 
15           in the district; and
 
16      (3)  The district superintendent.
 
17 Members shall serve for a term of four years.  Members shall
 
18 serve without compensation."
 
19      SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.
