                   A  BILL  FOR  AN  ACT

RELATING TO THE USE OF LEGISLATIVE ALLOWANCES.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 1      SECTION 1.  Section 24-1, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is
 
 2 amended to read as follows:
 
 3      "§24-1 Allowance for incidental expenses.  (a)  Each member
 
 4 of the legislature shall receive an annual allowance of $5,000,
 
 5 which amount is to cover incidental expenses connected with
 
 6 legislative duties and the amount shall be payable in a manner
 
 7 prescribed by the respective rules of each house. 
 
 8      (b)  Any publication that is produced with funds authorized
 
 9 under this section shall contain a statement disclosing that the
 
10 publication was produced with funds provided to the legislator
 
11 for incidental expenses connected with legislative duties.  The
 
12 statement shall be in at least twelve point, bold-faced type,
 
13 with capital letters and placed in a prominent location on the
 
14 publication."
 
15      SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.
 
16      SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
