                   A BILL FOR AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The legislature finds that the Kaneohe to Kahuku

area needs additional emergency medical resources to address the

high rate of motor vehicle crashes, medical emergencies, and

other trauma. The legislature finds further that as there is an

empty ambulance bay at the Kaaawa fire station, an emergency

vehicle and staffing are all that is required.

The purpose of this Act is to provide funding for an

emergency vehicle and staffing for the Kaaawa area.

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general

revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $350,000, or so much

thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2000-2001, to provide

for an emergency vehicle and staffing for the Kaaawa area.

SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the

city and county of Honolulu for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect July 1, 2000.
