                   A  BILL  FOR  AN  ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE TWENTY-SECOND SENATORIAL
   DISTRICT.


BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 1      SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue
 
 2 general obligation bonds in the sum of $84,934,458 or so much
 
 3 thereof as may be necessary, for fiscal years 1999-2000 and 2000-
 
 4 2001, and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary, is
 
 5 appropriated for fiscal years 1999-2000 and 2000-2001, for the
 
 6 following capital improvements in the twenty-second senatorial
 
 7 district:
 
 8 1.   Haleiwa Elementary School, Oahu
 
 9      A.   Covered walkway between A & F Buildings
 
10             and between cafeteria and
 
11             administration building for all
 
12             regular and special education students
 
13             walking to and from buildings.

12      SECTION 2.  The appropriations made for capital improvement
 
13 projects authorized in this Act shall not lapse at the end of the
 
14 fiscal biennium for which the appropriation is made; provided
 
15 that all appropriations which are unencumbered as of June 30,
 
16 2002, shall lapse as of that date.
 
17      SECTION 3.  The sum appropriated shall be expended for the
 
18 purposes of this Act; provided that:
 
19      (1)  The sums appropriated in items 1 to 12, and 16 of
 
20           section 1 of this Act shall be expended by the
 
21           department of accounting and general services;
 
22      (2)  The sums appropriated in item 13 of section 1 of this
 
23           Act shall be expended by the department of labor and

 1           industrial relations, office of community services; and
 
 2      (3)  The sums appropriated in items 14, 15, 17, and 18 of
 
 3           section 1 of this Act shall be expended by the
 
 4           department of transportation.
 
 5      SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 1999.
