                     HOUSE  RESOLUTION

RELATING TO ADA COMPLIANCE 


 1       WHEREAS, certain provisions of the Americans with
 2   Disabilities Act (ADA) should be adopted into state law without
 3   amendment, and
 4   
 5       WHEREAS, progress has been made allowing access to state
 6   resources to the disabled, and
 7   
 8       WHEREAS, the Legislature recognizes that this is an area
 9   which still needs to be improved upon, and
10   
11       WHEREAS, the Legislature also acknowledges that resources
12   are limited in this down trodden economy, and 
13   
14       WHEREAS, the rights and dignity of the disabled will not be
15   compromised as additional resources become available to address
16   this area of improvement, now, therefore,
17   
18       BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the
19   Twentieth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session
20   of 2000, that this body give consideration to incorporating
21   specific sections of the Americans with Disabilities Act,
22   namely 36 C.F.R. part 1191.2, subsections 4.1.3(11),
23   4.1.6(3)(e), 4.17-4.19, and 4.22, either without amendment or
24   with amendments that only expand accessibility.
