                     A BILL FOR AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO MATCH FEDERAL FUNDS FOR THE
   ESTABLISHMENT OF MANUFACTURING EXTENSION PROGRAMS.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:


 1      SECTION 1.  There is appropriated out of the general
 
 2 revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $1 or so much thereof
 
 3 as may be necessary for fiscal year 1999-2000 for the
 
 4 establishment of manufacturing extension programs in Hawaii;
 
 5 provided that no funds shall be made available under this Act
 
 6 unless the department of business, economic development, and
 
 7 tourism provides a dollar-for-dollar match of federal funds for
 
 8 the purpose for which this sum is appropriated.
 
 9      SECTION 2.  The sum appropriated shall be expended by the
 
10 department of business, economic development, and tourism for the
 
11 purposes of this Act.
 
12      SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 1999.
